Diagnosis of Functional Tricuspid Insufficiency

چکیده
Twenty-four healthy subjects and 33 patients with left-sided valvular heart disease in atrial fibrillation were studied using a pulsed-wave Doppler ultrasound system connected to a 900 two-dimensional echocardiography device. Systolic turbulence in the right atrium (RAST) was studied, and the ratio of maximum systolic velocity to maximum diastolic velocity ratio (MSV:MDV) was determined in the superior vena cava. In the 33 patients with valvular disease, right ventricular angiography was performed, classifying tricuspid insufficiency (TI) in 31 cases as absent, mild or moderate-to-severe. In two cases, right ventricular angiography was inconclusive.

The Diagnosis of Tricuspid Insufficiency
In a series of 146 patients with mitral stenosis studied by cardiac catheterization, 60 were found to have right atrial pressure curves diagnostic of tricuspid insufficiency. The clinical and hemodynamic features of these patients are reviewed. The oft-cited, classic manifestations of tricuspid insufficiency were found with relative infrequency and the diagnosis had been made clinically in less...

متن کاملMultimodal imaging of the tricuspid valve: normal appearance and pathological entities
The tricuspid valve, which is the atrioventricular valve attached to the morphological right ventricle, is affected by a wide range of pathological processes. Tricuspid valve diseases are now increasingly recognized as a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Echocardiography is the most widely available and, hence, the first-line imaging modality used in the evaluation of tricuspid valv...

Five patients with tricuspid stenosis accompanying mitral stenosis were studied. The characteristic features include a diastolic rumbling murmur in the tricuspid area, accentuated by inspiration, prominent "a" wave in the jugular pulse, prominent P wave in the electrocardiogram, absence of physical or electrocardiographic signs of right ventricular hypertrophy, and disproportionate right atrial...
متن کاملRevisit of Functional Tricuspid Regurgitation; Current Trends in the Diagnosis and Management
Current knowledge of functional tricuspid regurgitation (FTR) as a progressive entity, worsening the prognosis of patients irrespective of its aetiology, has led to renewed interest in the pathophysiology and assessment of FTR. For the proper management of FTR, not only its severity, but also the mechanisms, the mode of leaflet coaptation, the degree of tricuspid annulus enlargement and leaflet...
